Drop-off in Large Plastic Bags

If you feel like it is easier for you to sort out at your home, you may borrow our Depot's large clear plastic bags

In one large bag you may put these kinds of Beverage Containers (BC)

Our bags’ system is computerized. For example, when we dump pop cans in depot and their number reaches 288, the tag is printed out to close the bag. This equals 12 full blue crates. However for your convenience we decided to go w/ some even deviations

Sorting and Collection Tips for Plastic, Aluminum, and Drink Box Beverage Containers BC only:

  1. Only eligible beverage containers that are part of the Encorp Pacific Return-It system can be placed in bags and refunded.

Beverage containers purchased in the U.S. or other provinces may not be part of the B.C. deposit program, and we cannot provide refunds for them. Most containers brought to us are from B.C.,
but if you are unsure, please check eligibility by
    visiting this page:

Simply enter the barcode to confirm whether the container is eligible for a refund.

  2. How to tell if a beverage container may not be accepted:

    • Containers purchased in the U.S. often show oz. / ounces on the label.
    • Eligible B.C. containers usually show ml or L, such as 335 ml, 500 ml, or 1 L.
    • Labels should usually include both English and French.
    • If the label shows ounces and has no French text, the container is most likely not eligible for a deposit refund.

Some large retailers, including Walmart, Costco, and other supermarkets, may carry beverage containers imported directly from the U.S. Some of these products may not be registered in the Encorp Pacific Return-It system.

  3. Important sorting notes:

    • Aluminum pop cans and metal juice cans must be separated.
    • A pop can usually squishes easily by hand; a metal juice can does not.
    • Milk and milk substitute beverage containers are recyclable and refundable.
    • Please sort milk containers by material: plastic with plastic, glass with glass, drink boxes with drink boxes, etc.
    • Do not put any glass beverage containers in plastic bags.
